Sonetti e allusioni...

Sonetti per le Quattro Stagioni. C'è un po' di dibattito quanto a se i quattro concerti sono stati scritti per accompagnare quattro sonetti o viceversa. Sebbene non si sappia chi ha scritto questi sonetti, c'è una teoria che Vivaldi li ha scritti lui stesso, dato che ogni sonetto è rotto giù in tre sezioni, accuratamente corrispondendo a un movimento nel concerto...

INVERNO

(Allegro non molto)
Agghiacciato tremar tra nevi algenti
Al Severo Spirar d' orrido Vento,
Correr battendo i piedi ogni momento;
E pel Soverchio gel batter i denti;

(Largo)
Passar al foco i dì quieti e contenti
Mentre la pioggia fuor bagna ben cento.

(Allegro)
Caminar Sopra il ghiaccio, e a passo lento
Per timor di cader girsene intenti;
Gir forte Sdruzziolar, cader a terra
Di nuovo ir Sopra 'l giaccio e correr forte
Sin ch' il giaccio si rompe, e si disserra;
Sentir uscir dalle ferrate porte
Scirocco, Borea, e tutti i Venti in guerra
Quest' è 'l verno, ma tal, che gioja apporte.

WINTER

(Allegro non molto)
Frigid and shivering in the new fallen snow,
Relentlessly blowing, terrible wind
Pounding our feet as we run, to keep warm,
The air is so cold that it makes our teeth chatter.

(Largo)
Spending the day sitting still by the fire,
with heavy rain falling outside.

(Allegro)
Walking across the hard frozen ice,
Carefully stepping, we try not to fall
One quick turn and you fall to the ground
Getting back up, running again,
So the ice does not break apart under our feet
All the winds raging, Scirocco and Boreas,
All this is Winter, with joys of its own.

Дыхая хладом, вьюги налетели,
Снег выпал, иней лег, замерзли лужи,
Вмиг ноги зябнут на жестокой стуже,
Зуб на зуб попадает еле-еле.

Весь день в тепле приятно от метели
Скрываться, колобродящей снаружи.

(Allegro)
Скользить по гололеди неуклюже,
Боясь упасть, опасно в самом деле;
Зато, надев коньки, гонять свобода,
Валясь и подымаясь на раскате,
От ледостава и до ледохода;
Хоть северный и южный ветр, как тати,
В дверь ломятся и длится непогода,
Зима забав не лишена и стати.
